poinsettia tree in barbados

Here’s something you haven’t seen–a Poinsettia Tree!

In the tropics, where this picture was taken, pointsettias can actually grow to the size of small trees and continue to flower all year long.
This picture was actually taken at Hunte’s Gardens, on the island of Barbados, on a recent trip I made there. These trees grow all over the island, right in people’s front yards even–and are really striking. You’ll be driving along and see a brilliant crimson flash at a crossroads and they’ll be a huge one of these, the size of our rhodendendron bushes here in New England, growing on the side of someone’s driveway. Amazing!
